The Summon AI Research Assistant is now available via the university network, the library proxy, and individual logins. It is a generative artificial intelligence currently based on GPT-4.1 Mini. Its unique feature is that it draws on the millions of academic publications, books, and doctoral dissertations in the Summon academic search engine’s knowledge base to generate responses. For each answer, Research Assistant uses the five most relevant documents on the topic from the system’s knowledge base, precisely citing which document supports each line. The citations can be verified with a single click. Subscribed resources can also be downloaded.
Of course, the classic Summon Discovery will remain available. Summon Discovery can search through hundreds of the University of Szeged’s subscribed and purchased full-text databases, online collections, and acquired electronic documents via a single search window, regardless of which platform they come from.
