Book donations

Our library gladly accepts donations (publications, manuscripts) from private individuals over the age of 18; however, this does not mean the automatic acceptance of the documents. Based on our collection development principles, in comparison with our existing holdings, and taking into account content-related and/or usability considerations, we decide whether the donated items will be added to the collection.

What should be done regarding a donation?

Before bringing in the offered documents, please contact the head of the Subject Librarian Department or the subject librarian responsible for the relevant field:

As a general rule, we request a list of the offered documents (required information: author, title, publisher, year of publication, condition).

The donor is responsible for delivering the documents in all cases.

Documents are accepted only after filling out a Gift Donation Form.

We are unable to accept books in poor condition or affected by mold.

Publications that we are unable to add to our collection will, following the decision, be treated as unregistered surplus/duplicate copies. To the best of our ability, we will seek to ensure the further use of these copies (primarily within public collections).

We are grateful to our donors, whose contributions enrich our library’s collection and thereby support the library user community of the university, the city, and the region.
